We were well and truly grounded by the weather today, which was reflected by ‘diehard’ turnout. That didn’t detract from the quality of the breakfast, however, nor its punctuality, or the lightness of the Victoria sponge that was the just reward for those who made it through to afternoon tea.
Colin Boyd tended to the new K-8 that is now safely lodged in the workshop; Dave (patissiere par excellence) Parker provided the audience for yet another of Don’s fascinating lectures, whilst Tony Dean sat and passed the Bronze C exam (well, passed if you use just the total overall, in fact a little re-sit of the Met section will be necessary before Tony can truly claim to be ‘passed it’!)
A ‘flying’ visit by Roger Green enabled us to practice our ‘oohs’ and ‘aaahs’ as he recounted the tale of his latest 190km jaunt over the Cotswold countryside, but by 3 o’clock, even though the left hand generator was purring away like a well oiled sewing machine (thanks to Dave Bourchier’s repair efforts) we decided to beat a passage through the gale to the gate and call it a day.
