The forecast was for light NW winds with cloud cover reducing later in the day. Early in the day the cloud cover was low and threatening with some drizzle which put off a lot of our members. This was a shame because those who turned up were treated to some good soaring in the mid afternoon.
The only private glider out today was the beautifully presented K6 G-CFUB. It’s owner, Colin Boyd, was rewarded with the best flight of the day, soaring for 1 hour 23 minutes up to 2500 feet.

The training was catered for by Ged Nevisky, Mike Sloggett and myself sharing the use of K13 GDDMX.

One Day Course candidate Kit Smith with Instructor Mike Sloggett |
Mike delivered a One Day Course to Kit Smith and continued the retraining of Chris Jones who took his first flight in 16 years last Wednesday.

The much used K13 takes off again |
Ged flew with Andrew Trevarton, a returning temporary member, Andy Davey whose training has progressed to spinning and solo pilot Karl Andrews who is a little out of currency.

Visitor Eliot Wright ready for his Trial Lesson |
For my sins I flew with Trail Lesson visitor Eliot Wright and then had the privilege to commence new junior member Ross Pratt’s training with a couple of controls lessons.

A mention must be made of Mike Gadd. He had intended to fly his own glider today but abandoned that idea to spend his day driving the winch only appearing at the launch point late in the afternoon to do some back seat flying with Mike Jardine. Many thanks Mike; without you the day simply could not have happened.

The day finished in the clubhouse with club members assembling for a meeting.
