Dartmoor Gliding News-Saturday 30th October 2021

The weather has been beset by storms rolling in from the Atlantic. Friday was awful, with gale force winds and monsoon like rain. The forecast for Sunday looks equally bad. What of Saturday? The winds will be lighter but with the forecast for 60% chance of rain the club was a little quiet. The members who did attend were rewarded with a dry day in the sunshine with light southerly breezes. There were a lot of showers in the area but they just rolled past either side of the airfield.

A dry day with showers passing by.
The rain was never far away
Soaring possibilities were limited with most flights being a ride around the circuit but John Allan flying K13 G-CHXP  solo managed to hitch a ride under a passing cloud for a day topping flight of 17 minutes. Good effort John.

We had several Air Experience visitors today which kept the other K13 and IFP Scratch (assisted by myself and Mike) busy, The visitors were David George, Denise Bingham, Daniel Fisher, Lyndon Clark and Marcel Gyr.

Today was a lot better than the forecast. Thanks is due to all those who turned up and helped, especially Andy who drove winch and retrieve all day without flying himself.
