DGS News Sunday 10th March 2013

For once the weather performed as forecast: howling winds and lashing rain put paid to any outdoor activities, let alone flying.

That's not to say that nothing was achieved, for Roger Appleboom and Colin Boyd made great headway in the hangar with the restoration of the second quad bike i.e.. they got it started!  Now all it needs is a couple of rear tyres (the present ones would do well on a Formula 1 track in blistering mid-s summer, but not on the airfield at the soggy start to March) and I think someone mentioned that a brake cable might be a good idea...

Meanwhile the incessant drone of the sander accompanied Alan Carter's efforts to create an escape tunnel through the wings of his SF-27, whilst Barry, Roger and Heather prepared the Foka for its sojourn to the Mynd.

A good day for making preparations for the new season, for instance by getting hold of the new S England half-mil chart, which shows the break down of local Danger Area D011 into 3 discrete areas - and planning your cross country flight on Sky Demon, with relevant NOTAMs appearing automatically once you have plotted your course...
