What would today’s weather bring. Well the rain had cleared away with more promised for this evening. The wind was light SE initially but slowly went just west of south. This left us launching to the east ( short cable run ) with little or no headwind so low(ish) launches were the order of the day with 1000 feet feeling like a good launch.
For most of the day there was some top cover which limited thermal generation but there was soaring to be had for the careful pilot with Allan Holland best of the day with just over an hour.
We had a full air experience programme today which kept IFP Rick Wiles busy. He flew with Martin Carne, Nathan Savage, Philip Hancock, Davood Zafari, and David Downham .

The other K13 was also kept busy by CFI Don Puttock who flew with our trainee pilots. We also welcomed Stephen Fletcher who returned for some more flying after his Trial lesson a couple weeks ago. Stephen has some flying experience from many years ago and he flew with me in K13 G-CHXP with the aim of refreshing some of his handling skills. Welcome to the club Stephen.

The other most welcome visitor today was Graham Morris, our Senior Regional Examiner who spent the day with the members at the launchpoint where he was quizzed unmercifully about future developments in all things gliding. Hopefully we will see Graham from time to time.

A meeting of great gliding minds ( maybe I'm getting carried away a bit ) Graham Morris and Don Puttock |
A nice day.
