Saturday's Gliding Club News - 1st July 2023

The forecast was giving strong winds around 12 -15 knots at ground level from just north of west. This put it straight down the runway. Initially there was 8/8 cloud but this would break up somewhat as the day wore on.

A pair of K13s waiting for great things
We welcomed One Day Course candidate Nick Bilton.  After his pre-course briefing we had a couple of flights but the conditions were far from ideal and we decided that he should return to complete his course when the weather was a little more benign.

K13 G-CFGR launches again
Soaring was difficult but as always once you made your first climb things became easier but even so pilots were reporting very turbulent conditions with some surprisingly strong climbs. The solo pilots were up for the challenge and the pack was led by Phil Hardwick in his DG300 with a flight of 1:54. Mike Jardine (Std Cirrus), Rick Wiles (Std Cirrus) and Adam Hoskin (K13, CCY) all recorded flights over hour. Good effort.

We made the best of the day.
