With a forecast for possible thunderstorms and driving to the airfield in light rain the prospect of any flying was not good. But I was greeted with a light easterly wind and clear visibility over the moors, so we set about getting things ready to fly and make the most of the day before any rain arrived. The K8 and a K13 were taking to the launch point.
Due to the cancellation of the visiting Falke today, we were joined by CFI Mark Courtney. First to fly with me was John Allen. Some good circuit flying keeps him on track towards his first solo.
BI Richard Roberts was kept busy today with a steady stream of visitors. First to arrive were Martin Plunkett and Stef Nash. Having coped well with a cable break on his first launch, Richard and Martin were soon off on a successful second flight.

Next to arrive was Julie Barlow. Nervous excitement was evident, but Richard managed to settle her into the K13 for an enjoyable flight.

John Smith was next to fly. Mark stepped into the back seat to give him some good advice on his road back to solo.

Our last visitor was Shem Fleary who arrived with his mum and dad. More used to flying aircraft on flight simulators, he was keen to try the real thing.

Recently some grass artwork has been spotted near to the airfield. Any ideas to what it represents?

Steve Fletcher, Malcolm Wilton-Jones, Phil Hardwick and Gavin Short all had flights in the K8. Malcolm managed the longest flight of the day with 35 minutes. I even managed a cheeky 20 minutes in the K8 whilst Mark flew with John.
Thanks go to all at the airfield who gave the usual friendly welcome to DGS for all our visitors. Also thank you all for help today and we managed 19 flights that we didn’t think would happen today.
