Today is the 2nd official day of Autumn. And, as in all the best football commentaries, this was going to be a day of two halves. The day started with a light northerly breeze which strengthened somewhat as the day wore on.

Steve was climbing at either 8 or 10 knots depending on which vario you believe |
From midday to about 4pm it was moderately thermic with cloud bases eventually reach 3500 ft or so above the airfield ( 4300 ft above sea level ). The thermals were variable to say the least. Stephen Fletcher in the Open Cirrus managed to record a climb of 8+knots during his 2hr 22 minute flight around the local area. Longest flight of the day was once again Phil Hardwick in his DG300 at 2hrs 39. There were several other flights around the hour mark.
