The day started with not enough attendees to operate. The stronger than forecast northerly wind that ruled out the use of the Puchacz along with the low numbers gave us the difficult decision to cancel the One Day Course student. Slowly a couple more members arrived so we could at least fly. A K13 and the K8 were DI'd and taken to the east end launch point.
After a weather check flight it was deemed the conditions too rough for the K8 so all would take turns in the K13.

The only trainee today was Toby Irons. A couple of weeks away and the tricky conditions would test his skills. Generally he coped well and started mastering cross-wind approaches and landings.

One of the recent Women Go Gliding visitors arrived after being given a lift by Val Kiely when they met as Heather Mules was walking to the club from Mary Tavy. Heather enjoyed a couple of flights with Gavin to start getting used to the primary effects of controls.

A prospective junior pilot arrived to see what we get up to. Elliot Flannery and his dad was suitably impressed and Elliot was signed on as a new member. Steve Fletcher oversaw this process and then took Elliot for a couple on introductory flights. Welcome to the club Elliot.

It was time for me to step back into the back seat. Sean Westrope started on his progress towards his Bronze Flying checks. I then flew with Ed Borlase and Martin Broadway for some cross wind flying practice.
Another returning flier arrived. Recent scout visitor William Robins had a couple of flights with Gavin.

To save walking the K8 back to the hangar, I decided to fly it for a quick circuit. A rather exciting approach vindicated the decision about not flying it for general use during the day.

With everybody having flown and making use of the cross wind conditions to improve their skills the toys were packed away in the hangar. A day that started with the thought that we may not even be able to fly, ended with all happy to have flown. Thank you to all who made the best of the day.
